Abandonment & Forfeiture Policy
Storyside Kennels is committed to ensuring our puppies find loving, responsible homes. This policy
explains when a puppy may be considered abandoned, the steps we will take to contact the buyer,
and what happens to payments if the puppy is not picked up within the required timeframe.
Failure to Pick Up Puppy
Puppies must be picked up between 8 and 10 weeks of age, or within 14 days of the deposit being received, whichever occurs later, unless other arrangements have been approved in writing by Storyside Kennels.
If the puppy is not picked up within the required timeframe and no approved arrangements have been made:
-
The puppy may be considered abandoned.
-
The buyer may forfeit the reservation deposit and any additional payments made.
-
Storyside Kennels may make the puppy available to another home.
Our Commitment to Communication
We understand that plans can change and will make reasonable efforts to contact the buyer before a puppy is considered abandoned.
-
Storyside Kennels will make at least two attempts to contact the buyer using the phone number and/or email address provided to us.
-
The buyer will have 48 hours from our final contact attempt to respond and make acceptable arrangements with Storyside Kennels.
-
If we do not receive a response within that 48-hour period, the puppy will be considered abandoned, and the reservation deposit and any additional payments made will be forfeited.
Puppy Availability After Abandonment
Once a puppy has been considered abandoned under this policy, Storyside Kennels reserves the right to make the puppy available to another home.
Any reservation deposit or additional payments forfeited under this policy are non-refundable and cannot be transferred or applied toward another puppy.
We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise and encourage buyers to communicate with us as soon as possible. When contacted before the applicable deadlines, we are happy to discuss reasonable arrangements when possible.
